Zanetti: "It's important for us to win this trophy"

MONTE CARLO - There's not much that Javier Zanetti hasn't won in his career, but lifting the UEFA Super Cup to the sky in the Stade Louis II will represent a first for the veteran Argentine. "It's a very important final for us, it's the first time Inter are playing for this trophy and we are here to win, but with respect for a strong opponent," said the Inter captain in today's press conference ahead of Friday night's clash against Atletico Madrid.
"On the same date fifteen years ago I made my debut at San Siro winning 1-0 against Vicenza with a great goal from Roberto Carlos," recalled Zanetti. "It was a long time ago but I still remember the very strong emotion, the same emotion that has accompanied me in all fifteen of these years. We know it won't be easy but we want to continue on this great path."
Zanetti has played under numerous coaches at Inter, and now he is ready to win again under Benitez. "When there are tactical changes you need time to adapt, but the team wants to follow Benitez's indications," he said. "Forlan and Aguero are certainly two of the strongest opponents tomorrow, so they deserve attention."
Asked to comment on the possible transfer of Ibrahimovic to AC Milan, Zanetti said: "It has no effect on me. Each person makes his own choices. We are all professionals. I only think about Inter."
