Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson has denied making an offer for Inter midfielder Wesley Sneijder. The 26-year-old was reported to have turned down the Red Devils after they had made a £30 million move for the 2010 World Cup star.
However, Ferguson has dismissed reports and hinted that a move for Sneijder may not be forthcoming as the squad is already stronger than last season.
He is quoted as saying by the Daily Mail: “I believe the squad is stronger than last season with the younger players having another year under their belts. I don’t know where those reports about Sneijder came from. How can anybody turn me down when I haven’t even made a bid?”
Ferguson’s only major signing so far this summer has been Mexico striker Javier Hernandez, who impressed at the World Cup, scoring two goals.
