Barcelona look to Hijack Atletico Madrid's Tiago Mendes Dea

Atletico Madrid had all but concluded their deal for Juventus' Portuguese midfielder Tiago Mendes for €5.5m, however a report from El Mundo Deportivo has suggested the delay in the completion of the deal is due to late interest from Barcelona. Tiago had been on loan at Atletico Madrid last season and was a key member in the team's league campaign as they went on to crown themselves Europa League winners. Tiago had also been in impressive form during the World Cup for Portugal before their elimination at the hands of Iberian rivals Spain.
With Yaya Toure having moved to Manchester City, Pep Guardiola will be looking to fill the void left in the centre of his midfield and could see the former Chelsea midfielder as the perfect fit in the holding role.
With Tiago not expected to make a formal announcement until the end of the month, Atletico will be desperate to get their man to put pen to paper before any more big clubs start circling.
