Moratti: "Inter can win again"

Massimo Moratti spoke about the future of his treble-winning team during Saturday evening's inauguration of Il Caffè della Versiliana, the annual summer culture festival in Tuscany's Marina di Pietrasanta. Responding to a question on the future of Balotelli, the Inter president replied: "We are not ignoring any kind of offer and we don't slam the telephone down on anyone." Moratti added that the pillar of the Inter team will be represented by Samuel, Cambiasso and Milito, specifying that "this team can win" even without Balotelli and Maicon.
On Inter's new coach Rafael Benitez, Moratti said: "He was brave to come to Inter, but he has the professionalism to defend the cup. He's an intelligent person, he has a different character to Mourinho and I will ask him to do well in the first three trophies of the season: the Italian Super Cup, the European one and the Intercontinental. Mourinho? I don't find it sad that he left us after the successes. I'm not sad and with Benitez there will be new incentives and new challenges to face."
Moratti spoke out against the Italian FA's decision to cut the number of non-EU players. "It was a gratuitous decision, taken too quickly," he said. "It was made to make someone happy and does not take into account the philosophy of the Lega Calcio."
Inter's all-foreign team has been indicated as a reason for Italy's poor showing at the World Cup but Moratti is "proud of this situation. Either way, people would have criticised Inter. If the national team had done well at the they would have said these players do well despite Inter 'ignoring' them. So I say we're proud to always be at the centre of controversy."
