The 57-year-old Mozambique-born coach, formerly Sir Alex Ferguson's assistant at Manchester United, said that while Monday's victory had brought a much-needed morale boost to his squad, it was a long way from a FIFA World Cup winning performance.

"We certainly put up a great performance, and got a great result," said Queiroz. "Further to that, the three points must give us more inspiration and the capacity to approach the next match with confidence, ambition, and above all the intellgience to say that we have not won the World Cup with just one match like that, but it is imperative that we continue to advance."

Queiroz, who has also coached among others Sporting Lisbon and Real Madrid at club level and the United Arab Emirates and South Africa national sides, knows that his side need just a draw from their last match on Friday with five-times champions Brazil, who are already through after two victories. A draw would also assure Brazil of top spot.

"We are going to reflect on what we must do against Brazil, what we will be up against, and the players available to us," he said. "We must take into account what is to follow in the finals and not just one match."

Queiroz, who is credited with discovering the 'golden generation' of players such as Luis Figo and Rui Costa, said he hoped that all the sideshows to the FIFA World Cup would be set aside for the Brazil match. "Against Brazil, it is always a really tough match, a difficult one," said Queiroz. "I think that Portugal and Brazil are in the right shape to put on a good spectacle of football for the whole world."

C�te d’Ivoire, with one point, can finish runners-up, but they would have to beat Korea DPR by a resounding margin and hope that Brazil beat Portugal convincingly.
