Wesley Sneijder spent thirty minutes chatting to Inter Channel's Edoardo Caldara and Roberto Scarpini after Tuesday's training session. From football and taking free kicks to life off the pitch, the Dutch midfielder responded to all kinds of questions from the fans.
Welcome Wesley.
"Ciao to everybody."
How did training go today?
"Well. We trained very hard. It was a tiring day, but we have to focus on our work and make our best preparations for the coming season. We have started well, but it's only the start. Now we have the European Super Cup, our first international game."
Laura from Milan says you looked very handsome during your wedding...
"Thank you. It was a wonderful day. Both me and my wife received many compliments."
Who made all the wedding arrangements?
"My wife. I was busy with work, with training sessions. Yolanthe took care of everything. She was fantastic; she organised everything to perfection."
Roberto asks you to tell us something you like about Italy and something you don't like.
"There are lots of things that I like: the people you meet in the street, who are very kind even if they are fans of other teams. So I want to thank my club, which has helped me and protected me since I arrived. What I don't like is the traffic in the morning when going from Milan to Appiano Gentile."
Salvo from Reggio Emilia read that you said you want to finish your career at Inter. Now he wants you to say it on Inter Channel.
"I would like to end my career at Inter because I have settled in very well here. I have fun with my team-mates, who are exceptional. We have won everything, so why should I leave if the club doesn't want me to?"
Luigi, the owner of a restaurant in Milan, asks what your favourite food is.
"I adore Italian food, but you have to be careful because you get fat if you eat a lot and this is not good. Do I like pizza? I prefer fish."
Mariella from Messina asks who your idol was when you were a boy.
"I didn't have one idol in particular. Zidane was the player I liked most when I watched the big games on TV. When I was little, there were Van Basten, Gullit and Rijkaard in Holland who were three decisive players."
Did you ever think you would win so much?
"I arrived in Italy on a Thursday and on the Saturday I was already on the pitch in a derby against Milan and we won 4-0. I understood right away that ours was a quality team that was very strong physically with an iron defence. I didn't think I could win so much, but as the season went on we had even more confidence in our capabilities. All our recent games have been finals; we are used to doing well and we are ready to do it again this year."
Francesco Mazzanti asks what your secret to taking free kicks is.
"You have to practice a lot. I have worked very hard, ever since I was in the Ajax academy. I also practiced at home. I keep working every day and I always dedicate the last part of every training session to this type of exercise."
You're playing with even more freedom under Rafa Benitez.
"I'm playing even closer to Milito and I like this because I am even closer to the goal."
Simonetta from Cordignano was at the Stadio Meazza for Inter-Roma on Saturday and she had never seen so many children wearing Sneijder shirts. The young fans seem to adore you.
"This is wonderful. It makes me very proud. It was the same for me when I was a kid, so I'm very happy to see the youngsters wearing my shirt."
Are you planning to have any more children?
"I am already the father of a four-year-old, but I would like to have more."
Paola, Jole and Riccardo from Ferrara ask what you said to Samuel Eto'o after Holland-Cameroon. There's TV footage that shows an embrace between the two of you.
"He told me he was convinced that I would do well in the successive matches and he told me to concentrate on the World Cup. I thanked him and told him to enjoy his holiday, but not in an ironic way. I advised him to rest after such a long season and enjoy time with his family."
What did Julio Cesar say to you about the two goals you scored against him in Holland-Brazil when he returned to training with Inter?
"We talked about it in the dressing room after the match. We joked about it. I made fun of him when we returned to training in Italy, because I had never, never scored a goal with my head."
Angelo from the province of Palermo and Tiziano say that you deserve to win the Ballon d'Or and the UEFA awards next Thursday in Monte Carlo.
"I'm not thinking about what I might win right now. I'm only thinking about the match against Atletico and the next one against Bologna. The individual awards are nice, but you can't win them if you don't have a solid team behind you. I am in the right place but I want to point out that it won't only be my merit if I win. I repeat, I'm not thinking about the awards but the people talk about them and if I do win I will dedicate them to my wife, who protected me during the whole of last season, and also to my team-mates and all the fans who have always supported me and my team."
Thanks Wesley. Keep up the good work.
"A thousand thanks to everybody."
